Students from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology took their learning 5,000 feet underground to tour the Fermi Long-Baseline Neutrino Facility (LBNF) Project. We always enjoy sharing the cool work we do, especially with those interested in pursuing similar careers someday. Work on this Kiewit-led joint venture project will continue through 2026.
What does it take to build a work of art? From concept to construction, Kiewit and partners helped bring the Joslyn Art Museum’s vision to life with the Rhonda and Howard Hawks Pavilion. Complex curves, floating staircases and high-performance finishes make this a true work of art. Click the link below to read more about this project from Kieways

The I-15/Tropicana Avenue interchange, one of the busiest gateways to the Las Vegas Strip, is officially complete. 🎲 🎰 Commuters are already enjoying the benefits of this major transformation, including new ramps, wider walkways for pedestrians, additional lanes in both directions on Tropicana Avenue and a wider, safer bridge over I-15 to handle the area’s heavy traffic from tourism and sporting events. Over three years, 700 workers poured 54,000 cubic yards of concrete, placed 300,000 square yards of asphalt, installed more than 140 signs and improved more than two miles of sidewalks. Along the way, our team delivered some unforgettable milestones, like demoing and reopening the north and south half of the Tropicana Avenue bridge in separate weekend closures and coordinating closely with our client to finish key sections ahead of football’s biggest event of the year. Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo recognized Kiewit at the recent ribbon-cutting ceremony, thanking our team and the many subcontractors who completed the project. We’re grateful to Las Vegas residents and visitors for their patience as we worked quickly and safely to deliver a smoother, safer and more efficient travel experience. 📸NDOT
The BAE Systems Shiplift and Land-Level Repair Complex in Jacksonville, Florida, is setting new standards in marine infrastructure and safety. The state-of-the-art facility was recently honored with the ENR Southeast Regional Best Project in the Energy/Industrial category and the ENR Excellence in Safety Award. Kiewit was the prime contractor on the nearly two-year construction project. With a 492' x 110' Pearlson Shiplift system capable of lifting vessels up to 25,000 tons, including U.S. Navy Flight III Destroyers, the complex is now the largest of its kind in North and South America. The addition of dual piers, a transfer bridge and a land-level drydock increases docking capacity by 300% and supports 1,000 new jobs. The boost enhances Jacksonville’s role in national defense and commercial ship repair. Delivered ahead of schedule and on budget, our project also achieved a major safety milestone: more than 205,000 work hours without a single recordable incident. This achievement reflects the Kiewit team's commitment to excellence, safety and innovation.
While many of us are still waiting for fall weather, our crushing team at the Raglan Mine in Quebec is already tackling winter conditions. Even the recent snowstorm didn’t slow them down. Thank you to this team and to all those pushing through tough environments to get the work done.
We recently celebrated the groundbreaking of Omaha Public Power District's (OPPD) Turtle Creek Station expansion, a vital step toward delivering reliable, affordable and sustainable electricity to the Midwest. As part of this expansion, Kiewit will construct a third unit at the site, adding 225 megawatts of generation capacity. Located in eastern Nebraska, Turtle Creek plays an important role in ensuring winter reliability and responding to sudden spikes in demand energy. We’re also proud to partner with OPPD on the construction of three additional units at its Cass County Station, further strengthening the area’s energy infrastructure.
“Addressing mental health and suicide prevention in our industry has never been more important. It’s why Kiewit is so committed to bringing more awareness, breaking down stigmas and providing strong resources to help our people and their families get the help they need. We’re getting people’s attention in the field, in the office and at home – and every success we see is an important step forward.” – President and CEO, Rick Lanoha Through initiatives like Hard Hat Courage, Kiewit and other construction organizations are coming together to keep mental health front and center, ensuring suicide prevention resources and education are accessible. Thanks to Hard Hat Courage, more than 188,000 craft and construction professionals have already been educated on the resources and tools available to protect their physical well-being on and off the jobsite. The goal: reach over 500,000 craft professionals in the U.S over the next five years. Our organization recently recognized Construction Suicide Prevention Week across our jobsites, reinforcing the message that help is always available and no one has to face these challenges alone.
432 golfers. Over 100 sponsors. One incredibly important cause. Thanks to the generosity shown at the Kiewit Fore Charity Classic in Omaha, $562,000 was raised for Project Harmony Child Protection Center, an organization dedicated to ending child abuse and neglect. We’re proud to support Project Harmony's mission to provide a safe and healing place for children and families, made possible by sponsors and those that showed up to give back. 📸 Pictured: Senior Vice President Alicia Edsen, lead event organizer Cassie McKern, and Gene Klein, Angela Roeber and Lauren Fleissner from Project Harmony, accepting the check that will help so many in the Omaha metro community. "One of Kiewit’s core values is Nobody Gets Hurt and ensuring that we always send our people home safe to their families every day. We want to thank the Project Harmony team for everything they do to protect and advocate for children and ensure that they too have an environment free from harm.” – Senior Vice President Alicia Edsen We're grateful to everyone who made this moment possible!
Kiewit is helping lead one of Washington's most ecologically significant infrastructure efforts: the Coastal 29 Fish Passage Project. As the progressive design-builder, and in partnership with the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), we're replacing 29 outdated and undersized culverts along US 101 and SR 109 that impede fish passage with fish-passable crossings. These improvements help restore salmon and other fish habitat, protect vital ecosystems and cultural resources and uphold WSDOT's commitments to provide resilient infrastructure across some of the region's most rugged and remote terrain. The 29 crossings are grouped into five construction bundles based on geographical location and site conditions. The first three bundles are now complete, totaling 16 fish passable structures. This year, we are working at nine crossing sites with the goal of completing construction on seven of those sites. We are constructing a mix of buried structures consisting of precast box culverts and precast single-span bridges. We are maintaining traffic flow through the project sites by constructing a temporary shoofly MOT bypass around the work area or by utilizing phased construction. This project is part of a larger effort between Kiewit and WSDOT to remove more than 75 fish barriers across the state, consisting of six alternative delivery method projects.
