On January 19th, Medcanners came together for our first Town Hall of the year. Our leadership team recapped a successful end to 2022 before diving into the theme of this quarter’s townhall – awards and recognition. During this town hall, we awarded the Medcan Values Awards to three Medcanners who radiated their positive influences on the company, their teams, and our clients. The Excellence in Internal Client Service Values Award recognizes a Medcanner that has made the most difference internally to our teams and company. The Excellence in External Client Service Values Award recognizes a Medcanner that has made the most difference externally to our clients. The Inspiration Values Award recognizes a Medcanner that has demonstrated inspiration through to their outstanding accomplishments in their personal, professional or community service area. A huge congratulations to our Values Awards winners and the entire Medcan team for making our first Town Hall of 2023 a great success.

Medcan’s philosophy of Live Well, For Life applies not only to our clients, but also our valued staff members. We offer special employee rates on fitness sessions, specialty services, and a complimentary membership to our clinic to name a few. Throughout the first months of the pandemic, we launched a weekly mindfulness and stress management webinar as well as our Safe@Work program, designed to safely return our staff back to the clinic and the office. We have recently added new employee perks to continue to help them Live Well, For Life. This includes complimentary group fitness and yoga sessions as well as an on-site healthy lunch program provided by our own food and catering brand, Nourish. We believe living healthier is possible. Our enhanced benefits package is just one of the reasons why we continue to be one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies!

We can all help Stop The Spread. That's why at Medcan, we're taking extraordinary measures to ensure we Keep Clients Safe. In addition to standard temperature checks, a pulse oximeter is used upon entry to detect low blood oxygen levels — a sign of early-stage COVID-19 pneumonia — before the onset of more progressive symptoms. By implementing best-in-class procedures, the likelihood of earlier detection increases, and preventive action can be taken.
The #COVID19 vaccine prompts a lot of questions. How effective should we expect it to be? How long will its protection last? Will it be safe? Has Canada secured enough doses, from the right pharmaceutical companies? And perhaps the single biggest issue: When will a vaccine actually arrive for Canadians? On Episode 31 of Shaun Francis' Eat Move Think, executive producer Christopher Shulgan interviews Medcan's Dr. Jason Abrams to investigate how vaccines work, and provide answers on the race to solve the global pandemic.
