Courage: This is the title of the Annual Report of the Würth Group. Courage is a concise word, and yet it carries a lot of meaning. Courage means leaving one’s comfort zone and breaking new ground. Being courageous and embracing change is crucial for us to overcome the challenges ahead. The Würth Group employs more than 87,000 people worldwide. Every single person has a courageous story to tell. With that being said, @Robert Friedmann kicks things off by recounting his courageous moment at Würth. In his career, Robert Friedmann experienced courage from an entrepreneurial point of view when the Würth Group acted against the economic trend. Today, Robert Friedmann has been Chairman of the Central Management Board of the Würth Group for almost 20 years. So, what does he mean by going against the economic trend? He gave us some recent examples. During the coronavirus pandemic, many companies stopped investing, reduced inventories and laid off employees. Würth took a completely different approach: The Würth Group built up its workforce and inventories in order to be there for its customers. Of course, nobody knew whether this course of action would be successful. After all, it was necessary to continue investing. But the courage paid off: The Würth Group achieved record sales in both 2022 and 2023. An incredible achievement, made possible by the enormous commitment of all employees and courageous decisions.
