What is a Food Server?

A food server is responsible for the entire experience that a customer has at a restaurant. They are responsible for taking drink and food orders from a customer. A few of the main duties of a food server are greeting customers at the table, taking customer orders, dealing with customer issues and complaints, and giving customers their bill. They also have to give every single customer great service. Some of the jobs titles that a food server could grow into are restaurant manager and general manager.

A food server does not need to have any experience but a high school diploma is preferred. One of the most important skills that a food server will have is attention to detail. Another skill is organization as the food server will have to be able to ensure customers receive the correct orders.
