Pros
The compensation is good. It is not worth it.
Cons
The firm employs questionable business and legal strategies. Management - which is essentially a single person - seemingly takes pleasure in wasting employees' time and effort. PTO is never granted. Instead, you call in sick, doing your best impression of the bubonic plague, if you need to take time off. There is no ability to work from home, ever. There is no option for casual dress. Software and hardware are quite outdated. The building is outdated. There is no stability. Most employees leave in a year or two, and management does a stellar job reminding the ones that stay that they are entirely expendable. Half of the employees share the Brewer name or are otherwise connected to management through family and friends. Some members of that inner circle are competent. Employees' arrival times are logged and monitored, so you best arrive by 9:00am sharp. That is, unless you are part of the inner circle, in which case you need only arrive by 11:00am and you can leave at 6:00pm to shine your shoes. If you are an attorney or a consultant, do not expect to build an established career or a book of business. You have one job, and that is to chase down whatever zany idea popped into management's head. But don't be fooled - those zany ideas will consume nearly all hours of your life. There are brief periods of respite when management works from home or is otherwise absent from the office (which, of course, management is permitted to do, even if nobody else is). During those periods, more work is accomplished, the staff start to smile, and the entire office breathes a sigh of relief. I truly hope the firm is able to turn itself around. It has interesting cases, strong connections, and an invaluable support staff.
