Pros
Although the salaries are not as competitive as working in the private or corporate sector, the vacation and personal leave time is much more competitive. Working remotely allows for less time commuting and better work life balance.
Cons
Not a lot of room to grow financially. Until last year, non unionized employees (e.g. consultants, managers) hadn’t received a raise in nearly 10 years. In order to be promoted you really have to be in the right place at the right time. Lots of people in middle management/leadership positions who are really poor at their jobs.
