Pros

Good for a young student who wants to earn some $ and eager to learn about the optical world!

Cons

’ve worked for this company as a licensed optician for over two years. What initially attracted me were their core values, such as being tight-knit and down-to-earth. However, this company is disorganized, and their actions do not reflect even the slightest bit of what they advertise. They constantly change their promotions and incentive programs, including bonuses. Upper management is very disconnected from the store level. They claim to be better than the big corporations by valuing their employees, yet they have a very high turnover due to widespread dissatisfaction. This company is also very anti-optician and does not adhere to the values of regulatory opticians. To save money, they are willing to hire anyone off the street, even without optical experience or healthcare etiquette. Some of the upper management are only as good as scarecrows! The majority of them are people who have been fired (fire-ees) from other companies and somehow ended up here. So you can imagine how professional they are. The dress code is on another level—you can literally walk in wearing your pajamas, which is extremely unprofessional (not conforming to expected standards of behavior) for healthcare settings."

Pros

Free glasses (1 per quarter for casuals, x2 for PT/FT employees) No uniform It can be fun when it’s quiet

Cons

Scammy deals we have to promote (“free” multifocals?? More like “$100 off” multifocals unless you get the bad ones as it is those ones that are free - bc they’re $100. It feels wrong). Always being made to upsell even when the customer doesn’t really need it “No uniform” and say they allow “self expression” but has a dress code that doesn’t make sense - what do you mean I can’t show my shoulders or my knees because we are a “healthcare” setting? Why are we being paid under the “retail” award then? Can be stressful during busy periods
