Pros

flexibile schedule, autonomy, supportive leadership (generally).

Cons

compensation. You are driving A LOT. No more mileage allowance. No extra gas allowance. You use your own cell phone and receive no extra compensation for this, either. Caseload can ebb and flow so hours aren't always guaranteed. No paid sick time or vacation time. No pension plan. The hourly wage charged to the client is high. Therapist takes home a small portion of that. FA is pocketing a lot of money and I'm not sure where it's all going. As I write this out I realize there may be more cons than pros. I don't see myself staying with this organization long term because of the cons I have listed.

Pros

- Autonomy and flexibility in scheduling, adapting to personal and client needs. - Breadth of work; ability to work with variety of clients (Orthopedic, ABI, Mental Health, Concussion, Pediatric, Hospital Discharge). - Supportive supervision model and opportunities to network and develop meaningful professional relationships with colleagues. - Organizational value for connection, shared learning, and ongoing professional development.

Cons

- Competing priorities may lead to feelings of overwhelm. Establishing strong boundaries, effective communication, and maintaining work-life balance are encouraged. - Learning curve requires time to become acquainted with industry and company policies and procedures. - Time is required to build a caseload; however, the organization actively assists with referrals and caseload management and forecasting. - While there are ample opportunities for support from peers or supervisors, the job can feel isolating if these opportunities are not actively pursued.
