Virtually all of the top positions, even for groups that operate outside of Europe, are occupied by French nationals. If one was not born in France, no amount of effort or success will translate into a promotion above the VP level. There is also a French culture of arrogance and laziness throughout the company that makes getting things done impossible. The Gemalto card manufacturing plant in PA is a paradigm of inefficiency and the team there has a complete lack of initiative and motivation to deliver results.
