Pros

Sunway office - Awesome pantry, great teammates, strategic location

Cons

I came across this review recently and I would like to add a review of my experiences with the compliance team. I worked at Hays for a couple of years. The threats mentioned in the review is very relevant to me as I have had experienced it. The compliance manager delegated her tasks to everyone in the team, compiles them and solely gets credit for it. This became a system in the compliance team, adding more “ad-hoc” tasks on the team’s plate. Mind you, we were all interns and fresh grads back then. We thought this was how the working world works as the manager constantly “reminded” us that neglecting the adhoc tasks would reflect badly on our evaluation forms. Despite voicing out concerns during exit interviews, there seems to be no action taken. I have voiced it out to the manager herself but that only resulted in me getting targeted. I was even called after working hours with demands to work on tasks impacting on my work life balance. Adhocs compile way too much that it outweighs the actual job we were hired to do. In reality, those adhocs were the manager’s tasks. I remember most of us were afraid to voice it out to higher ups as the compliance manager always poses to be close to them and was assured that they would only be disappointed in us. Many times have we been told to do one thing, but when questioned by higher management, we were thrown under the bus by the Compliance Manager with heavy gaslighting response such as “No I did not advise you to do this” and “it did not come from me”. Any process improvements suggested by the team would be ignored, only for the manager to implement it as “her idea” 6 months down the road to hit her promo targets with the idea. I have witnessed teammates being forced to hit daily targets upon returning from medical leave or EL for the days missed. Even upon going beyond and hitting targets, the Compliance Manager was reluctant to give promos to the teammates. With the delays in the promotions of the rest of the team and the amount of times the Compliance Manager got promoted within that one year, one would question if the budget allocated for promotions were only applicable to the middle management and up within the company. We were severely exploited at Hays and I would definitely not recommend anyone to join here, especially the compliance team. If one wants to know how the working environment is at Hays, I strongly suggest that you speak to those who have left the company.

Pros

Great place for new recruiters to gain experience. A lot to learn. Younger crowd, fun teams.

Cons

Competitive, people that weren't succeeding would be put on PIPs and eventually let go. Can be some micro-managing. Not all managers created equal - some great, some not so great.
