Pros
Cool coworkers, decent discount and pretty store.
Cons
- A lot of high school students work here (some drama here and there) - Managers are EXTREMELY rude to certain employees, even customers sometimes - Product Knowledge sessions were only mandatory for Sales Associates, so me being a cashier, didn't know anything about the products (Embarrassing whenever customers ask me something and I have no clue) - Alberta Labour Law states that "Employees are entitled to at least 30 minutes of rest (break) during every 5-hour work period. If an employer and an employee agree the break may be taken in 2 periods of at least 15 minutes". I have worked over 6 hours before with no break due to lack of "floor coverage" yet management fired employees who were perfectly fine at their jobs, every week for the first 2 months of store opening. There has also been times where I asked, and they said no with no reasoning (happened to other people before as well) - Managers show extreme favouritism, and if they don't like you, they make it very known. - Manager authorization is required for almost everything. To call a manager to the cash you're at, it must be done over a PA system. Sometimes takes more than 5 minutes for a manager to come which is extremely infuriating to the customer - You get "mystery-shopped" by your department manager like twice a week, and its annoying - They expect you to do stupid things at the cash wrap. For example, a customer could be buying jeans and you have to add-on an item (like if they needed another item, they would have grabbed it themselves already????), AND you have to tell them a promo, which is eh...chances are if a customer has been in the store for at least 5 minutes they either read a sign already or a sales associate already told them about it - MINIMAL "rewards"/"appreciation" is shown to cashiers. Yes, we have the easier job but we deal with a lot of customer backlash. - There always has to be a greeter. Which is a chill thing to do, but on the weekends we have to pass out flyers which customers litter all over the store. - The managers who have a "sweet" voice talk to you/customers like you are a stupid 5 year old and it sounds so condescending - One of the assistant cash managers is really weird and annoying, such a try hard. Clearly doesn't have experience in the management position, and an unprofessional person overall - Within the span of a week, 2 of my coworkers cried because of how one of the assistant cash managers were treating them. - Horrible return policy, so we deal with a lot of customer backlash for it. Depending on how much the discount is on the item, different return policy. - No calculators at the till A ton more, but there were just a few that came to mind
