After the most recent layoffs, it's clear that this company is no longer the shining tech beacon it once was. With each round of layoffs, the C Suite become less compassionate and less involved. It's evident that diversity is no longer a goal for this company, as many of the laid off employees were minorities and the panel they've put together to "work on diversity issues" are merely a powerless virtue signal. It's sad to see how far this former top employer has fallen. It seems apparent that they knew about the layoffs in December, yet, chose to delay them until mid-January. As one of my colleagues pointed out, they chose not to gift Christmas presents this year except to those people who they chose to keep on, despite not laying anyone off until mid-January. The company is still planning to fly all of their employees out to Vancouver, one week after the layoffs, for a two day fully paid no-work company wide event. Clearly no thought or consideration was given to the dozens of laid off employees who were told to rearrange plans and book flights to attend this mandatory event, and then told one week beforehand they were being let go. They continue to push the narrative that they care, but their actions clearly prove otherwise. If I had any advice to give potential hires: don't waste your time. You will be valued more highly at another company, without the fake congeniality and constant looming threat of unemployment.
