Pros

- Working alongside passionate individuals who are fighting to create a better city for everyone - Work/life balance

Cons

- The Calgary top leadership isn't great, their personal insecurities get in the way of the organization doing great things to move forward. There's a lack of trust and respect from the CEO to the rest of the employees, including the VPs. Employees are generally disheartened about the poor leadership and whether it can take the organization where it needs to go. Many people are leaving because of this.

Pros

4 weeks of vacation plus holidays, good insurance, decent pension program, Knowing you're making a difference.

Cons

So. Much. Micro-management. Even as a vice president, you will make no decision that isn't second guessed by the CEO. HR is overly complicated and hiring practices are so rule-bound that quick hires are almost impossible. The people that are hired are all excellent and really good at their jobs but each decision they make is second guessed away until everyone has a sense of learned helplessness- nothing can be done quickly because it has to be run past the CEO before it can be implemented.
