      Pros

      I was with the company over 10 years and really enjoyed meeting with clients while encouraging them to make their final arrangements. The job was actually a lot of fun. The flexible hours were great and is a good position for a self starter. Do understand that this is not a 5 day week job. Working on weekends is required. Comission structure good and I made an above average living up until the company was sold.. Neptune provides a good product and does stand behind it.

      Cons

      in 2010 Neptune was sold to Service Corporation International which is the largest funeral enity in the US. It was a gradual buy out with the final transfer coming in 2015. Along with the change of ownership came a change in managment style.. As an independent contractor if you don't sell you don't eat. Simple and easily understood fact of life for all sales people. 2015 brought the "grind" mentality to the table. Mandatory conference calls, constant follow up from supervisors ... more sales, more sales. ISR were often treated like children. Unattainable goals, docked comission checks and addition of more and more sales staff which ultimately saturated the lead base. In many areas same company under diferent name working same service area and in some cases, out of same location. No longer rewarding, no longer fun.

      Pros

      Preplanning with customers is rewarding. You get to meet a lot of nice people

      Cons

      This company is ferociously sales-driven.They "punish" us by taking away our leads if we don't sell enough of their stupid product that nobody wants like a coral reef or travel plan if someone is dying in hospice. The leads are old and come from corporate. We have to go to homes and won't disclose pricing without a home visit and lots of pressure. Taking advantage of poor people.

      Pros

      Very flexible hours. Very rewarding to help the families in their time of need. It also nice to work from home and not have to go to the office every day.

      Cons

      The upper management is a joke. Very unsupportive and verbally abusive. Very unprofessional management and they expect you to work 60 to 70 hours a week, 6 days a week for no pay. There are bonuses but you will never be able to attain them. The leads are typically all disconnected numbers which makes it impossible to set appointments. After being in the business for several years, I can safely say that this is a terrible company to work for. If you value your work/life balance do not work here. Terrible position to have.
