Pros

I love the people I work with including the District Manager. We make 10% commission on all cellphone related accessories. OSL (Walmart Wireless) carries 7 major companies if you include chatr. We make $5 - $15 in commission for cellphone sales but that's no where close to the booths at the malls. You get 50% discount on your cell phone plan with Bell, Virgin, Telus, Koodo, Rogers, and Fiso. You get to see the latest tech and have awesome Reps for the cell phone companies that come to improve your understanding on their products and plans. Also these Reps only represent Multi Carrier Companies so they are really fast at responding and trouble shooting your issues.They also give out online currency that can be used to buy prepaid gift cards if you answer their questions or sell their phones (They basically are bribing you but I am okay with it).

Cons

We work at Walmart with Walmart branding on our shirts and that's really confusing for customers. At some locations there are more OSL (Walmart Wireless) associates than Walmart electronics staff creating more confusion for customers. Its not the customers fault for asking for help when I applied for OSL (Walmart Wireless) I was actually applying for electronics but instead talked to the OSL (Walmart Wireless) thinking they were Walmart employees. They make the schedule 45 days in advance so its really hard to plan anything but most managers are happy to switch some shift around. There is a lot of useless paperwork because Walmarts system is so old and unable to connect to our software that keeps track of your sales and commission. That's why we have to manually input all sales and till count into our system manually. This adds more work for the manager who goes through all the files to see if their were any errors. To be honest this company is still growing and it always changing procedures to better improve the company and I truly think it will be a beautiful company to work for in the future.

Pros

Employee discount is good, you receive 50% off on your plan.

Cons

Growth: They all say company is growing, but as a manager you are stuck at same position for years, also you have to be a favourite of your District manager if you want see growth. Bonus: Store making 200 sales per quarter or 600 sales per quarter gets the same bonus. And even you are at 89% to budget but highest sales producing store in the district, you still don't get the bonus. Commission: They say uncapped comission, but even you make 100 sales you make an average of $700 commission. Worst commission structure in the industry. Truth about the company: Mainly, in this pandemic of coronavirus, you are forced to work and can't even wear mask. And if you are not doing that you have to take your own vacation to get isolation of 14 days. No support for their employees. All head office managers and District manager who stay at home safe with their family making worst decisions for their own employees who work on the floor everyday during this coronavirus pandemic. Where other wireless companies are giving paid leave for all the employees, who also have great pay structures and commission structures. This pandemic opened my eyes, that this company is the worst place to work as they only care about their business. Don't be fooled by looking at their website as it shows they are peoples company. Reality is totally opposite. Find out yourself by going to any walmart and talk to any employee, they are all frustrated as they don't get any help from OSL and forced to work during this pandemic.

Pros

You do get great benefits. For example, even though I am a part time employee, I do get 80% pay in benefits. You also get 50% off of your cell phone provider, and you get to try incentives for free, like spotify and shomi, so we can explain to customers about what they get when they sign up with *blank* provider. I also like that you don't have to know anything about cell phones to get the job,

Cons

It is awful. There is no room to grow. If you start as a part time associate, you will stay a part time associate. You have to be hired as a manger. My wage never changed in the two years I have been with the company, which is, you know, technically illegal. Everytime I asked for a raise, they would say 'sure no problem', but it never came to fruition. Commission used to be really good. It was nice to have it when my hours were cut because it helped me pay for rent and other basic necessities. They then proceeded to cut it almost in half. I could no longer afford to work at my own job. Because you do not work for walmart, you can't really do much at walmart except set up phones which is frustrating for both us AND customers. We can't cash people out, unlock anything, and then because of that, we are stuck with almost nothing to do during the day. You can hand out coupons and prospect the store all you want, but you still spend more than half your day waiting for something to happen. Most of the goals are unrealistic. If my goal is 25 phones in a slow month like February or April, and I only get 15, (which is still really good for said months) I will be put on a sort of watch program for a month. If I don't reach an acceptable total of phones out, they write me up. There was an incident as well, which really speaks for the company and what they really care about. An associate was hired from a competitive company. Apparently he was really good in sales so they offered him full time at my store. Keep in mind that all of this happened during his first three months of probation. First thing about this that annoyed me was that I was next in line to receive a full time position due to seniority, and was passed over for someone else. Fine. Whatever. He comes in and is an unprofessional mess. Every single shift I have had with him, he was late. He had left the keys out after close in the middle of the kiosk where anyone could have grabbed them and stolen all of our equipment. He received a write up for it. He bailed on multiple shifts to go partying. He received a write up for that too. He has made shady deals on phone contracts, which is technically fraud. The one thing about him that really pissed me off, is that he would flirt with anyone. He would get phone numbers from any pretty girl that walked by. He would say he was going to the front to hand out coupons and talk to customers, but he would harass the female cashiers. I felt so uncomfortable around him that I requested not to work alone with him. A reasonable request, but I continued to work alone with him. As a result, my sales started to drop. Finally, three Walmart cashiers made a complaint both to my manager and their manager. Our district manager had to come in and have a meeting between all four people respectively. ALL THEY DID WAS TRANSFER HIM TO A DIFFERENT STORE!!! HIS SALES WERE SO GOOD THAT THEY DIDN'T CARE HE HARASSED PEOPLE ON THE JOB THAT THEY JUST MOVED HIM OUT OF THE WAY. This is NOT how a company should treat an employee on their probationary period. It is disgusting. He is still there to this day, and already has had at least three complaints about him to management. They just won't let him go. A person's well being should not be shadowed in harassment.
