Pros

Make maybe minimum wage in your area.

Cons

Collected all the personal information but offered minimum opportunity to do work and earn money. They have a slack channel where everyday people are asking when will they be assigned any work with no response from "managers". Someone questioned if the purpose of the platform is to collect personal information in the Slack channel.

Pros

Flexible work Decent Onboarding Steady and Consistent

Cons

Little transparency in terms of pay rates - started at 35$ an hour, knocked down three times to a final pay rate of 20$ an hour, all while being bumped up in responsibility and told I was performing well (ie bumped to superattempter and ideal response writer). No reasonable explanation given for cut in pay.

Pros

At best, Outlier offers interesting work devising prompts to train LLMs. Trainers are given a free hand to make up exercises that train/test the models. Stimulating, challenging and fun.

Cons

This company is highly unreliable. Pay rate can be reduced with no notice or explanation. You can get jettisoned from a project with no explanation, and left waiting for reassignment for months at a time. Generally, communications are opaque and suggest a basic hostility/contempt for their workforce, Appears they assume there is an unlimited supply of potential workers who they can treat like garbage. These might seem like strong words, but given the chaotic nature of the work experience, Outlier truly deserves them. Check the Outlier Reddit to learn more about this company's practices.
