Pros
Very interesting and varied work scope. A great bunch of people working on the floor, with great attitude, work ethics, and attitudes. I consider them my friends and family rather than co-workers. Ability to cross train. When they had the large fire at their .location no one was laid off. Reasonable pay but could be better. Very safety oriented. Need a job, good place to start, take their training ,enjoy your time there, enjoy your co-workers, but never trust the management, your just a number..
Cons
Where should I start. Your career development path is small, usually only based on what your manufacturing cell does, or if your related to some one you have it made, the better worker you are the less chance of promotion you have, and the more work you have to do.. They have a no layoff policy, but choose to fire the most senior employees with the highest pay and most amount of vacation time, unfortunately most employees were unwilling to unionize in the past to curb this. Witnessed favouritism, and unethical management behavior. Human Resources could be considered subpar, good for arranging extra curriculum activities and firing workers, but no professionalism or ethics. Standard used to be a great company to work for, you felt like part of a family, unfortunately the Americanization of it as led to its downfall. A Great company that started with headquarters in Winnipeg, with a great CEO has seen the headquarters shifted south, a management team degraded, and a Human Resources Department which ironically needs a complete repair and overhaul.. Lots of politics. Ever wonder why Standardaero never makes the list of Manitoba's Best Employer or Place to Work?
