Pros

Lots of great perks: - RRSP matching - Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and beer - on-site gym - personal trainer on site - on-site massages - amazing prizes for employee recognition (trip/home renovations) - unlimited vacation

Cons

This is the worst company you can work for in Kitchener - Waterloo! The leadership is horrendous! The CEO is inexperience, gets frustrated all the time and doesn’t have people skills. He throws tantrums and many times I have seen him berate employees in front of everyone! He is just unprofessional. There is definitely a “class” system in this company. If you are a developer or manger, you fall into a higher status here and get all the perks. However, if you make a mistake you are very easily disposed of. If you work in fulfillment or customer care – God help you! You will be treated like a 3rd class citizen! Employees are treated very unfairly in this company. Just don’t make mistakes and suck up to everyone there! I have seen people work so hard when team members have left, doing multiple roles to keep their team/department afloat. Leadership sees no value in this. You are easily disposed of, you have no value to the company. They offer a lot of perks to entice you – Don’t be fooled. If you are looking for a place to grow, be challenged and doing something amazing where you will have impact – this is not the place. They offer a lot of perks to make up for something…

Thanks for the feedback and I am glad you enjoyed the perks while working at TextNow! I am a first time CEO and I'm learning on the job. You are definitely right about the "inexperience" part. I am transparent about that with my team and I always invite everyone to give me feedback to help me become a better leader - either face to face or through a 360 process. I've also definitely made my fair share mistakes (like all other new leaders). There has been times a long time ago my communication style may come across being a jerk. While my intentions were positive, we have a core value - No Brilliant Jerks - I have to stay true to. I apologize if I did anything to make you feel uncomfortable. I do have a leadership coach (so do many of our other leaders) and I am constantly working on improving my leadership and communication skills. On top of that, we've brought in many great (and experienced) leaders into the organization we can learn from! The "class" system you mentioned is simply not true and I am going to list some facts here: -Developers, managers, marketing staff, product management staff, fulfillment staff, customer support staff, et al. are entitled to all the same perks you mentioned in the review -We had multiple employees from customer support and fulfillment move on to other roles in our organization: Product Management, Marketing, QA -There was no turnover in the support & fulfillment function (except for people moving to other roles in our org) in 2018 We invest a lot in growth in our employees and we pride ourselves in giving everyone honest feedback regularly through 1:1s. Our employees are anything but "easily disposed of". We're a company that is open to criticism and feedback in any forum, but it will be helpful (for us and the community at Glassdoor) if you back your claims with facts that are truthful. PS: I'm sure you can find at least one worse company in Kitchener/Waterloo to work for!

Pros

Everyone here is always very friendly and welcoming of new employees. Lots of different perks to make you feel at home when at the office. Unlimited vacation so you don't worry about taking it. The company has a vision and everyone is onboard to make it happen.

Cons

I really don't have anything bad to say about this place.

Pros

- Great food, plus a fully stocked kitchen - Great team & opportunities for growth & development - Conscientious team & senior members who provide: constant feedback, trust, awesome extras (like standing desks & personal storage, etc.) - Team & Company events that help you feel like part of the team and have fun at the same time! - Opportunities for growth & development of your job & team. If you have suggestions on how to improve the team, work, system etc. all you need to do is bring that information to your superiors & they will support you and allow you the opportunities to make these improvements - Extras: foosball table, fully stocked kitchen, on location Gym, TV with video game consoles, on tap beer

Cons

- The stress can be overwhelming -- as you grow & get more responsibilities it can be hard to keep up with everything. Although I have had good luck with bringing it up with the supervisors and thankfully they are understanding and willing to work with you on it - The tools need work - we now have an internal tools team, so I know this issue will resolve itself, but currently there are too many tools that need to be touched to accomplish a task. Looking forward to when this gets streamlined.
