      The people are fun, the company isn’t

      Pros

      - Engineering team is full of great, intelligent people - Collaborative and communicative engineering team

      Cons

      - SLT has more interest in making money than making technology, lack of direction and transparency - Huge pay disparity between Canadian and US engineering salaries (mine as a Canadian was 40% lower than my American counter parts) - Feels like an “if you don’t like it, then leave” type place - LOTS of turnover

      Great communication within and across teams Great visibility into tech leadership wrt initiatives, direction Benefits/perks are great, health+wellness, etc

      Cons

      Sometimes you have to switch gears and pivot quickly to drive other initiatives but nothing out of the ordinary for a tech shop that optimizes for business and long term trajectory

      Pros

      Textnow has a great work/life balance, with mental health days every month and unlimited vacation. Also, every IC that I've worked with is great!

      Cons

      SLT seems completely lost, they preach about empowering the teams, but every decision is made by them, and they change their minds quite often. Now they are doing rally cry, something that they read in a book and imposed on us. Also, there are very few to no career opportunities, your manager doesn't provide guidance nor support on that. 1:1s are often skipped if not cancelled.
