      Once upon a time - A great place to work

      Pros

      This company used to be one I'd recommend to stay with forever. The culture, and people were among the best I've ever had the pleasure of working with. Regular social events, management appreciated the employees and we all shared the company values. This all changed in the past 3-5 years with new management and HR policies. There are a few managers that care and try hard to make positive change in the organization but their hands are mostly tied. Current positives are: - the remote work options afforded to employees. - RRSP / 401k contributions

      Cons

      The company talks a big game on paper with their culture, work environment, and values but it is all bluster. There are few opportunities for advancement, compensation is low with annual raises below inflation. The organization puts profits over values and employees. Management and many of the executives are out of touch, speaking to you as if you are just a cog in a machine and totally replaceable. Burnout is common place as you are often expected to work long hours, and work multiple roles to fill in gaps. Turn over is extremely high due to lack of appreciation from management, and low pay. Culture has greatly suffered due to politics and backward HR policies. Work/Life balance is poor and you are expected to appreciate any morsal of appreciation thrown your way.

      After spending one year working here I can confidently say this is the warmest, friendliest, and most welcoming company I have worked for in my 10-year professional career. Aside from exceptional mentorship, the overall vibe/energy in the office is not only what attracted me in wanting to pursue a career at VelocityEHS, but allowed me to thrive here. VelocityEHS has some of the most passionate people that sincerely care about helping people and companies solve their compliance challenges and making the world a better place. Everyone is approachable; more than willing to provide a helping hand, and share best practices based on their experience. Management genuinely want their employees to succeed and they provide as much help as possible to ensure their success.       Too Much Politics/Big Ego from some Executive Team Members

      Pros

      Very driven and goal-oriented organization. Many of the people who work together in the Oakville office still feel like family and value the relationships they have built and the human aspect of people.

      Cons

      Initially being acquired by a larger company was exciting. We continued to do 'business as usual.' There was an obvious need to make a more seamless experience for all customers. We were initially excited to merge with the team members in the same departments in other locations. This ended up being a nightmare. The company has changed into one that states its values out loud but the actions by some Executive team members are anything but these values. The political environment has made some ego's so big that you can't get around the puffed-out chest. What once was an amazing place to work, where you feel valued and appreciated, is now a thing of the past. It's very disheartening because the vision and values stated are great but when not back up by actions time and time again, it gets very depressing and sad. What once I would have rated as a company to stay with forever is now one where the water cooler talk is that they are scared to talk to certain Executive team members. People are keeping their mouths closed to keep their jobs. The joy in so many people has gone out.
