Pros

None - Trust me, after a month you'll forget about any 'pros'

Cons

Asked current employees because I left this place (Pension Admin - Toronto) in 2019 and the cons below are still true there, how pathetic: 1. Workload - You will end up working more than 8 hours every day because Management never thinks you're doing enough (which comes from a jealous, vindictive place in them) and assign you more work whenever they get the chance, thus no work/life balance 2. Management - Extremely fake, manipulative and selfish people. Do not trust ANY of them. They do not care about getting to know you as a human being, your mental health or your career goals - they lie and say they do but end up making you feel guilty for thinking of yourself and talk behind your back all the time. They even used the term 'layoffs' as a threat DURING Covid to an employee for making a one time mistake. All they care about is numbers and looking good - they just use you to make it to their own retirement at your expense 3. Training - Too fast, next to no actual good notes/documentation for you to refer to and after a month expect you to not make any mistakes and if you do, good luck. They will copy the whole department in an email if they have to and make your honest mistakes sound like the end of the world 4. Salary - A joke for the amount of work the analysts ("doers") put in. I know student interships that pay the same or even more without all the drama and stress these people and the workload cause you 5. The Pension Admin department in Toronto is like that whiny annoying ex that thinks it's all about them but once you leave, you get your life and mental health back 6. Culture - I guess bonding over how much this department stresses you out?

Pros

Great place to learn and very intelligent people.

Cons

Horrible hours. No salary increases and pathetic bonuses. I thought the sweat shop reputation was exaggerated but it most certainly wasn't.

Pros

Great place to start out and gain new skills. Good exam support and general training. Highly intelligent and motivated co-workers who are willing to train on the job. Fun office environment. Lots of events to take part in, and friendly co-workers. Flexible hours; doesn't matter when you leave/come in, as long as you meet your billable goals. Pay is so-so. Easy to advance in pay quickly if you can pass exams, but pay levels off once you are designated.

Cons

No work life balance. Expect minimum 45 hours per week, sometimes 60 or more. Unrealistic billable hour targets. Demotivating, because performance considered high elsewhere is only average here. Very stressful due to competing client demands, need to balance your time. Strong push to reduce hours to meet budgets, but very difficult to do the work in this time, which creates stress. Steep learning curve.
