Pros

Some really nice ground level staff in all departments.

Cons

It disheartens me that I have to write a review for a company with no positive outlook at all. I think that companies are founded with mostly good intentions, forged with a passion to fix problems that exist in the world to help elevate the lives of the people they touch. It’s obvious that Wondershare was founded with this vision and goal in mind, but let me assure you, whatever “wonder” was originally at Wondershare has long gone. I could go into extreme depth and worrying detail about widespread bullying, “leaders” who can’t articulate their objectives, or even absolutely disgraceful behavior against staff from upper management; but it won’t make me feel any better about my short tenure and it won’t help fix the problems that exist within the company for those that remain. I am not the first and or will I be the last that sees this company as nothing more than a temporary stain on the Vancouver tech industry. But, as there are some true game changers locally; some companies are at the other end of the spectrum, scraping the bottom of the barrel for basic creative ideas, painfully forced culture and even baseline morals on how they treat employees. Generally, I try to not take too much notice of Glassdoor reviews from disgruntled alumnum from places I’m looking to work - and neither should you. However, one other review on here describes Wondershare as nothing more than a toilet, and even though it’s exceptionally rude and not my style to make such a crude comparison; I am finding it hard to elevate Wondershare much beyond that or make a better comparison myself. You’ve been warned.

Pros

+ You get the chance to work with some really cool and creative peers.

Cons

- Extremely anti-worker - you will need to sign in and sign out at very specific times like kindergarten. You will need to write an extensive daily work log justifying your day's work. You will constantly need to fill out qualification assessments and goal commitments and other useless forms. - Raises don't exist, and promotions don't exist (unless you are Chinese). If you don't speak Mandarin at this company, you will never see a cent more than what you signed the initial contract for. - Wondershare's favorite activity is to waste your time. The hours are needlessly long with the expectation that you will do unpaid overtime. You will have to attend daily "knowledge sharing" sessions which are basically terrible slideshows about how to use Midjourney and ChatGPT. - I hope you like PowerPoints because you'll have to put one together at least once a week, with multiple slides of useless busywork justifying your position. There is so much wasted productivity hours spent on PowerPoints just to force you to do overtime, so that you're tired and don't want to apply for other jobs. - The management is comically incompetent. They are constantly playing Game of Thrones-style politics with each other and stabbing each other in the back. They create little to no actual value for the company. They get entire departments fired just for a little tug from the CEO. - You will be forced to waste your paid time off on mandatory 'unified holidays' which are basically holidays in China. Oh, but for Christmas/New Years? One day off. I am not joking. - The products this company makes are basically scam-tier software, so be prepared to get scammed yourself.

Pros

- Half-day Fridays, but longer regular weekdays (to accommodate China HQ) - Convenient office location with great food options - Clean office - Standard employee health benefits

Cons

Office/Day to day - no parking, must pay - 4 days in office mandatory HR - Does not advocate for employees in the Vancouver office - Basically the middleman communication from China HQ to Vancouver employees - Advice to employees on the same matter can vary from person to person. There's a clear lack of trust between employee and HR Culture and Leadership - Micromanagement style similar to Chinese work culture - Must clock in and clock out, has built-in punishment system that affects employee bonus - Encourages overtime work, but no overtime pay or time in lieu will be given - Meetings with China HQ is typically in their work hours, not PST - Managers take credit for team's work - Company uses an internal social platform for employees to share information, but is often used as a means to take credit for other people's work. - English-only speakers are severely disadvantaged - Mandarin speaking employees are favored, promoting lack of diversity - Chinese hierarchy in workplace is valued. Highest paid person's opinion is obvious. - Promotions are rotational and annual, given arbitrarily, and results are increases in pay that are less than inflation. You also must do a presentation in front of a panel of judges. - Leadership is non-existent and there's a weird uncomfortable power struggle between VPs. - So many politics and very little time spent on actual work - Lack of vision and emphasis is put on short-term profit gains - Good reviews on glassdoor were forced by HR
