During the interview process, we go to great lengths to set realistic expectations about the challenges that come with the Account Executive role because it's important to us that everyone who comes on board has a solid understanding of the highs and lows that a career in sales brings. With that, our management style at Yelp is very hands-on, and to some, this might feel like micromanagement. However, our goal is to provide ample support to our teams as they learn new skills and practice new tactics. Finally, we understand that being held to specific metrics is challenging. However, we know that this is the best way one can be successful in sales. We know this approach is not for everyone, but we've created a successful and supportive environment through this strategy.

Pros

If you love your city, it can be very fun. Remote work is helpful and you'll make great relationships with fellow community managers, who are typically wonderful people.

Cons

As others have said, upper management is extremely out of touch with reality, including the realities of small businesses post-COVID. Pay is very under market for the level of work. Values are consistently preached but only selectively honored.
