A Disastrous Transformation

Pros

Piror to mid 2015, Takeda Canada (and previously Nycomed / Altana) was a very successful company with an excellent culture and strong, consistent, respectful leadership. Good products. Some very good people.

Cons

New and very junior CEO (C.P.) is in way over his head. Narcissistic, arrogant and lacking in emotional intelligence and self awareness. Only interested in hearing himself speak. Disrespectful to almost everyone. This new leadership has ruined a great culture in record time. Most good people have left or are actively looking to leave.

Canada is a cultural disaster

Pros

There are many pros about the organization which include the people, the location, the total compensation and the products.

Cons

The President/ General Manager is a critical one in setting the culture for the organization. CP has never demonstrated Takeda's values of fairness, integrity, honesty and respect. He is a narcissist, cannot make decisions and only likes to hear himself talk. There has never been an occasion when he has shown either care or respect to employees. The culture in Canada can only be described as grossly toxic. The good people are continuously looking for opportunities outside of the organization and where top talent has left, the positions remain open and unfilled leaving it up to those left behind to fill the gaps.

Current leadership in Canada needs to improve

Pros

Colleagues, salary & benefits, products. Takeda has a good portfolio of products and the recent acquisition of Ariad will help.

Cons

Current leader Chatrick Paul. Came in and impatiently fired the local leadership team he inherited. They were the same leadership team that helped make Takeda successful in Canada. He lost much respect with rank and file following that move, and looks unlikely to restore it any time soon.
