On April 20 and 21, we gathered 50 volunteer advocates from across Canada for our annual Advocacy Summit and Hill Day in Ottawa! Together, we asked our elected officials to take steps towards transforming Canada’s clinical trials ecosystem to reduce red-tape, spur investment and create new pathways of care. Thank you to every single volunteer, staff member and guest who came together to #HelpHopeBloom this #DaffodilMonth.
This National Volunteer Week, we’re saying thank you to our volunteers across Canada. Your time, compassion, and commitment drive real progress against cancer and we couldn’t do this work without you. You are at the heart of everything we do. 💛 #ItTakesASociety #NationalVolunteerWeek
April 7 is #NationalCaregiverDay - let’s remind ourselves that caregivers need care too. 💛 Caring for someone with cancer isn’t easy. The responsibility can be overwhelming, stressful and you may forget to take care of yourself. But it’s very important to make sure that you take time for yourself. Read our blog about the top stories and resources for caregiver.
Double your impact this #WorldCancerDay! 🌎 This World Cancer Day, your donation in support of cancer research will be matched by our partner CIBC, up to a total of $20,000 – but only until midnight on February 4! ⚠️ Cancer poses an enormous threat to the health of Canadians and our healthcare system. A lot of progress has been made but the challenge grows as our population ages and expands, and the environment that we live in shapes our health. We need action now to save lives today and improve lives for generations to come. We say, “It takes a society to take on cancer” and through our new strategic plan, the Canadian Cancer Society will lead the way. This plan is a commitment to working together for even greater impact and transformational change, for everyone affected by cancer. 💛
Upcoming Webinar: Bridging Gaps: Enhancing Access to Clinical Trials with Cancer Trials Canada. When many people hear “cancer clinical trials,” they think about testing new treatments. In the first of a two-part webinar series, we will introduce you to the Cancer Trials Canada platform, designed to make cancer clinical trials easier to find and understand. We will highlight a critical area of clinical trials: cancer prevention. Prevention research has the power to stop cancer before it starts—by identifying risks early, testing innovative screening approaches, and building healthier communities. We will also share how the site supports equitable access, helps patients and providers navigate trial options, and offer practical ways people can use it in their work or communities. 📅January 21, 2026 at 1 pm ET Register for the webinar: https://lnkd.in/eaGwwGRN

🫁 It’s estimated that almost 21,000 Canadians died from #LungCancer last year. Lung cancer is not just a smoker’s disease — anyone with lungs can get lung cancer. In fact, up to 30% of new cases occur in people who have never smoked. Half of all lung cancer cases are diagnosed at stage 4, when treatment options are limited, making earlier detection an important priority. That’s why along with our partners, we launched the 2026–2035 Pan-Canadian Lung Cancer Action Plan — a bold, ambitious national roadmap to reduce lung cancer deaths by 30% over the next decade. 🔗 Join the movement this #LungCancerAwarenessMonth at the link below. https://bit.ly/4nCEBur
Curl for Cancer is back! Together, we raised over $200,000 last year to support those affected by cancer – proving that with dedicated curlers like YOU, every stone played helps change lives. Decorated Canadian curler and Curl for Cancer ambassador Craig Savill shared, “It’s two things I’m very passionate about – curling and helping people that have been diagnosed with cancer. I know how cancer can affect a person and a family and people around them, and I hope we can raise more awareness and funds for resources.” This curling season let’s sweep for a cure! Host a Curl for Cancer event and help Canadians in need. Let’s hit the ice and keep pushing toward a cure – one rock at a time! 💙🥌 📅 Sign up today: cancer.ca/curling
