In this feature of The Moneris Mosaic, we spotlight Atanas Varbanov (he/him). Atanas' career at hashtag#Moneris began almost ten years ago when he joined the legal team as a junior lawyer. His talent and hard work were quickly recognized, and he was offered numerous opportunities for growth, supported by extensive training and mentorship. His rise to the roles of VP, Assistant General Counsel, and Assistant Corporate Secretary reflects his dedication, the opportunities he seized, and the invaluable mentorship he received. Atanas' journey is one of resilience and determination. In 2007, he immigrated to Canada with his family, leaving behind an established legal career to start anew. Facing challenges such as adapting to a new culture and overcoming concerns about his accent, he initially settled in Kingston before moving to the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). The GTA's diversity provided both challenges and opportunities, allowing him to engage with a broad spectrum of people and ideas. Atanas' story is a powerful reminder of what can be achieved through perseverance, resilience, and the support of a community. His story serves as an inspiration to others facing similar challenges, demonstrating that with hard work and determination, it is possible to overcome obstacles and achieve professional success in a new country. Together, let's appreciate the beautiful mosaic of unique stories, like Atanas', that shape our exceptional team at Moneris.
