We have secured a 10-year, $2.3 billion contract to operate and manage the depleted uranium hexafluoride (DUF6) conversion facilities at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)’s Paducah and Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plants. Through our joint venture—Mission Conversion Services Alliance, LLC (MCSA)—with partners Westinghouse Electric Company and Jacobs, we are committed to transforming DUF6 into a stable uranium oxide, ensuring responsible disposal and environmental protection. “This work illustrates how our commitment to protecting the planet’s environment and people through our end-to-end services across the nuclear asset life cycle is a key differentiator for AtkinsRéalis,” said Ian Edwards, our President and CEO. "We are dedicated to safely managing legacy nuclear materials and fostering economic growth that improves communities.” As part of the new contract, we’ll oversee comprehensive services, including security, emergency management, fire protection, and utility operations, to enhance safety and sustainability at both plants. AtkinsRéalis takes pride in its dedicated teams at DUF6, who have advanced the future of these facilities through operational improvements. #NetZeroNeedsNuclear #EngineeringaBetterFuture #Sustainability
